NASCAR Trucks at Daytona Preview
Written by Byrds on February 17th, 2022
The NASCAR Trucks run Friday night at Daytona, with qualifying that afternoon. After Thursday practice, with some short runs of drafting, most of our early week guesses feel a little more confident.
Matt DiBenedetto and Austin Hill look slow. DiBenedetto took over the #25 Chevy that Josh Berry and others couldn’t make competitive last year. Hill has a winning history in Trucks, but is in a first race offering this week for Spire Motorsports. He may not even make the race. You can bet against both in matchups at a few books; our picks have been published on the Telegram feed.
The four Fords got some good drafting laps together, and it looks like Zane Smith hasn’t lost a step despite switching from the GMS team over to Front Row. Everyone expected to be fast was, except Chandler Smith, but I am not worried about him. The two newest GMS drivers, Grant Enfinger and Derek Kraus, led the speed chart in their Chevys.
For the season, I’m generally bearish DiBenedetto, Crafton and Sauter (though he’s great at Daytona / Talladega), generally bullish Enfinger, Eckes and both Smiths. Best chances for a longshot upside are Kraus and Majeski. Lastly, I think Carson Hocevar wins a race soon. Rhodes won the title last year, and John Hunter Nemecheck should this year. But it will be rare that either of these guys are bargain priced for wagering in 2022.
We won’t have many bets to win this Daytona race, but here are some darts at cheap prices who were fast in practice. Could go with longshots to win or a Top 3 bet at fair pricing (25% of the odds to Win). Enfinger +1400 at DK, Kraus +3300 at MGM, Majeski +2500 at MGM, Tanner Gray +4000 at MGM. Throw darts here if you like, will likely have a couple of these on the official race card.
